TIMSHEL COUNSELLING
A space for you to explore, heal, and grow
Welcome
Hi, and welcome to Timshel.
I'm Kate, a qualified counsellor based in Hampshire offering online counselling and in-person sessions for adults (18+).
I create a space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings and work through what’s difficult, without judgment or assumptions about what's right for you.
I believe deeply in your capacity to heal and grow. My role is to provide the care and warmth you need to support you in doing the work that matters to you.
Whether you're exploring difficult emotions, want to make changes in your life, or simply need someone to listen, I'm here to support you.

How I work
I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB) and am a registered member of the BACP. I am fully insured, registered with the ICO and work under regular clinical supervision.
About Sessions
Each session is 60 minutes and gives you a dedicated, confidential space to explore what's going on for you. We work at your pace. You choose what to talk about, and I'm here to listen, support, and help you make sense of things without judgment or pressure.
Counselling can be either short-term or long-term, depending on what you need. You do not need to commit to a timeframe or certain number of sessions to start counselling, the choice is yours.
Getting Started
I offer a free 15-minute introductory phone or video call where we can talk about what's bringing you here and whether we'd work well together. It's confidential and commitment-free.
If we decide to work together, we agree a session schedule of 60 minute weekly, fortnightly, or monthly appointments. I recommend weekly sessions to start to help you get the most out of the process but do work as flexibly as possible.

What is Timshel?
The Story
I named my practice after a Hebrew word that means a lot to me: timshel, meaning "thou mayest" or "you may choose."
I first encountered it through Mumford & Sons' song "Timshel," which drew from John Steinbeck's East of Eden, where timshel represents the idea that we aren't predetermined. We have the capacity to choose our path, even when life feels fixed or overwhelming.
"You are not alone in this."
That's what counselling can be. A place where you're not alone, where someone walks alongside you through difficult times.
"You have your choices
And these are what make man great
His ladder to the stars."
Our choices, yours, mine, all of ours - even the small ones, even the hard ones are what shape us. They're how we grow, change, and become.
How This Shapes My Work
The concept of choice and change is deeply personal to me, and it's at the heart of how I work.
Counselling isn't about me telling you what to do or who to be - you are the expert on you.
It's about creating space for you to explore, reflect, and make the choices and changes that feel right for you.
